<p><b>Arborio</b> (<a href="Piemontesische_Sprache" title="Piemontesische Sprache">piemontesisch</a>: <i>Arbeu</i>) ist eine Gemeinde in der <a href="Italien" title="Italien">italienischen</a> <a href="Provinz_Vercelli" title="Provinz Vercelli">Provinz Vercelli</a> (VC) der Region <a href="Piemont" title="Piemont">Piemont</a>.

</p>

<p>Arborio liegt rund 20 km nördlich von der Provinzhauptstadt <a href="Vercelli" title="Vercelli">Vercelli</a> an der <a href="Sesia" title="Sesia">Sesia</a>. Das Gemeindegebiet umfasst eine Fläche von 23 km² und hat 849 Einwohner (Stand 31. Dezember 2024).

</p><p>Die Nachbargemeinden sind <a href="Ghislarengo" title="Ghislarengo">Ghislarengo</a>, <a href="Greggio" title="Greggio">Greggio</a>, <a href="Landiona" title="Landiona">Landiona</a>, <a href="Recetto" title="Recetto">Recetto</a>, <a href="Rovasenda" title="Rovasenda">Rovasenda</a>, <a href="San_Giacomo_Vercellese" title="San Giacomo Vercellese">San Giacomo Vercellese</a>, <a href="Sillavengo" title="Sillavengo">Sillavengo</a>, <a href="Vicolungo" title="Vicolungo">Vicolungo</a> und <a href="Villarboit" title="Villarboit">Villarboit</a>.

<p>Die <a href="Strada_provinciale" title="Strada provinciale">Provinzstraße</a> SP594 von <a href="Gattinara" title="Gattinara">Gattinara</a> nach Vercelli umfährt die Gemeinde als Umgehungstraße und befreit so den Ortskern vom Durchgangsverkehr. Nur rund 4 Kilometer südlich befindet sich die nächste Autobahnauffahrt auf die <a href="Autostrada_A4_(Italien)" title="Autostrada A4 (Italien)">Autostrada A4</a> bei Greggio in Richtung <a href="Mailand" title="Mailand">Mailand</a> (70 km) und <a href="Turin" title="Turin">Turin</a> (75 km). Weiter 5 Kilometer östlich kreuzt die <a href="Autostrada_A26" title="Autostrada A26">Autostrada A26</a> bei <a href="Recetto" title="Recetto">Recetto</a> mit Richtung <a href="Verbania" title="Verbania">Verbania</a> (78 km), <a href="Domodossola" title="Domodossola">Domodossola</a> (105 km), <a href="Alessandria" title="Alessandria">Alessandria</a> (75 km) und <a href="Genua" title="Genua">Genua</a> (150 km).

</p><p>Im knapp 4 Kilometer entfernten Nachbardorf Ghislarengo befand sich der nächste Bahnhof mit Verbindungen auf der Bahnstrecke Biella-Novara. Seit dem 15. Dezember 2013 ist diese Haltestelle aber geschlossen. Nun sind es 7 Kilometer bis zum Bahnhof in <a href="Carpignano_Sesia" title="Carpignano Sesia">Carpignano Sesia</a> oder 11 Kilomter nach Rovasenda. An diesen Stationen halten noch Züge.

</p><p>Die Buslinie 50 (Vercelli – Gattinara – Borgosesia – Varallo – Alagna) der A.T.A.P. (Azienda Trasporti Automobilistici Pubblici delle Province di Biella e Vercelli) verbindet Arborio regelmäßig mit Vercelli in 25 Minuten.<sup id="cite_ref-2" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-2"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>2<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>

<div class="mw-heading mw-heading2"><h2 id="Geschichte">Geschichte</h2></div>

<p>999 wurde Arborio das erste Mal erwähnt. Zwischen 1879 und 1933 hatte Arborio eine Haltestelle an der 47,9 km langen Straßenbahnlinie von Vercelli nach Aranco, das zur Gemeinde <a href="Borgosesia" title="Borgosesia">Borgosesia</a> gehört.

<p>Sie ist namengebend für den in der Gegend angebauten <a href="Arborio_(Reis)" title="Arborio (Reis)">Arborio-Reis</a>, der neben <a href="Carnaroli" title="Carnaroli">Carnaroli</a> und <a href="Vialone" title="Vialone">Vialone</a> bekanntesten italienischen Reissorte. Neben dem Reis werden in Arborio Textilien, Kleidung, Ziegeln und Keramik produziert.
